No Idea

I don’t know what she saw in me
The deepest part of my heart could hardly fathom what was within
I’m just a normal person looking to make ends meet
Many in the civilized world see an African that rigs of the word street
Not a young black girl trying to change her story from bitter to sweet
But, she saw something in me

When I was born she did
When I was going through the torn she did
When I asked for that job she did
When I was broken she did
Even when I didn’t see anything in myself
I am still searching for that thing she saw

All sun and yonder
Makes my heavy heart ponder
But, that thing I think, really stems from belief
Believe in faith, attitude and self
I might not find my answer now
But I’m sure not taking a bow
Until I’ve fulfilled what she saw in me!
